Our History

There's a deep hollow worn in the old stone step in front of Beeker's General Store in Pemberville, Ohio, a hollow worn by the feet of four generations of shoppers. Believed to be over 136 years old, the business opened when Pemberville was a flourishing farm community. This turn of the century building was built by Froney & Bruning. Records indicate the Zindler Brothers owned the business next, followed by owners Beeker & Witker. Miss Mildred Beeker continued in her father's footsteps maintaining the tradition until age 89. Current owner, Todd Sheets started working for Miss Beeker at the age of twelve. With a love for history and a desire to continue the tradition, Todd purchased the business in 1994.

In today's society, supermarkets have come and gone, shopping centers around it have waxed and waned, but Beeker's is still open, selling true pieces of nostalgia one piece at a time. Visitors today experience the same warmth, charm and nostalgia evident of earlier times. The creak of the old wooden floor, the original gas lampshades, wooden counters/stools and the store's unique tin ceiling are evident upon entering through the double doors just off Pemberville's East Front Street. In keeping with tradition, the merchandise we offer has the look and feel reminiscent of what our ancestors would have purchased. We look forward to continuing the tradition of serving you, our customer. If you are ever in our area, we invite you to be our guest! We look forward to your visit at Beeker's General Store.
